what is unity
Unity is a global spiritual movement founded in 1889, rooted in the universal and practical teachings of Jesus. We view Jesus not as the great exception, but as a master teacher—a powerful example of the divine potential within each of us.
While it is rooted in the teachings of Jesus and often categorized within the broader Christian tradition, Unity differs in both theology and practice from many mainstream denominations
Unity is not a religion in the traditional sense. It is a spiritual way of life that embraces the wisdom found in all faith traditions, while offering practical tools for creating a life of abundance, purpose, and peace.
Unity embraces all people, regardless of age, race, sexual identity, creed, gender, religion or lack of religion. We believe there are many paths for a spiritual journey of discover about God and the universe. We see truth in all teachings, and fully support the freedom of each individual to seek the truth for themselves.
unity teachings
Unity teaches that all people are created with inherent sacred worth and we strive to reach out to all who seek support and spiritual growth. Our spiritual principles support a way of life that promotes health, abundance, joy, and inner peace.
Unity’s teachings integrate timeless spiritual wisdom with evolving interpretations of what it means to live fully, compassionately, and consciously. Unity encourages exploration of the presence of divine love and intelligence within all life, and the transformative power it offers.
Unity is especially meaningful to individuals who consider themselves spiritual but not religious—those who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and the universe, and who are open to exploring a connection with a higher power through personal experience, reflection, and practical application.
Rev. Ellen Debenport, author of “The 5 Principles: A Guide to Practical Spirituality,” briefly describes Unity core beliefs.

It was the most uplifting experience we have had in a long time. We have found our place. I am looking forward to seeing all the good that is coming our way.
